I then updated to most recent version of iTunes, and then it wouldn't even recognise my iPad, on device manager just said apple mobile device (recovery mode), and I was unable to install any drivers either automatically or manually from the common files/apple.etc folder. I have been having to get the iPad into recovery mode by holding both buttons down for about 20 seconds. Have spent hours looking on this site and others and cannot solve the problem. It extracts the software but then gives an "unknown error 1394". Tried restore option to delete all my data as there isn't anything stored on there I'm bothered about loosing.

iPad restarted and was running slow during initial set up. Reset this PC and Go back buttons in Settings > System > Recovery do not function. Recently tried to update my iPad's OS to the latest version, after many errors it seemed to eventually install the update. Usually pretty good with this sort of thing but really stuck.
